I like to cover movie promotions once in a while in this blog, so I was keeping an eye on the new Superman movie, assuming that as a summer blockbuster based off an already merchandise-heavy property, the opening day promotions for the film were going to be ridiculous in scope and scale. I was not disappointed.
AMC Theaters, which seems to do promotional giveaways fairly often, is giving away one of the most insane movie prize packs I’ve ever seen. It’s 20 items deep, which is ridiculous in of itself, but some of the items included are so perfect for collectors/super-fans, it’s amazing to me that they’d be giving so much awesome stuff away where one or two of the high-caliber items would have been enough.
You can see the whole prize list (with pictures!) on AMC’s website. My favorites are the command USB key and the eyeglass frames.
Comics news blog The Beat also ran a Man of Steel promotion, partnering with Nokia to give away some amazing items, including a brand new phone and a Killer Zod bust. Click through to The Beat to see pictures and the rest of the items.

MONDAY MIKE FACT: I haven’t seen Man of Steel yet, and I may not for a while. Despite being a card-carrying member of the nerd elite, I’m kind of getting burnt out on super hero movies and would rather see something like Fast and the Furious 6 or World War Z. Less moralizing origin stories about responsibility, more stuff with exploding cars and hordes of stampeding zombies, you know?
